She likes to think she turned me on to NPR, but I've been a fan for some time. It's always a nice escape from the incessant fixations the networks develop on things like Jacko, Natalie Holloway, Cindy Sheehan or even Katrina. And, believe it or not, I actually find them more fair and balanced than any of the networks. At the very least they do a good job at avoiding sensationalism.
First off, I am NOT Larry Lujack (for those of you familiar with Chicago AM radio). I really am an Uncle Larry though. The title of this blog comes from a response I often get from my nieces when they think I'm being silly.

I hate to admit it, but I'm an NPR junkie. I even donated twice a year to WILL.
I used to work for an NPR station and we had a show called MUSIC FROM THE HEARTS OF SPACE that used to freak me out.
